FAQs
How long before vehicles can drive on new asphalt?
Typically 24–48 hours for light vehicles; give 3–7 days before heavy loads or tight turns. Full cure develops over several weeks—avoid sharp turns in place and parking on edges early on.
How thick should asphalt be?
For most driveways, 2–3 inches compacted asphalt over 4–6 inches of compacted base. Commercial lots often require 3–5 inches of asphalt and 8–12 inches of base, depending on loads.
Repair or replace—how do I decide?
Localized failures (potholes, settled areas) often benefit from saw-cut & replace or milling & paving. Widespread fatigue/alligator cracking usually points to base or full-depth replacement. We’ll explain the most cost-effective option.
Do you handle grading and drainage?
Yes. Proper grading and base prep are core to our process. We correct slope and subgrade issues to move water away from structures and reduce freeze–thaw damage.
When is paving season in Manitowoc?
Weather-dependent, typically spring through fall when temperatures and ground conditions are suitable.
